danger is the best method.
Character & Canon: (Mr.) Drippy from Ni no Kuni
District: Whitewood
Personality: [Note: I tried to make this as spoiler free as possible, but there are still a few in here, so, to anyone reading the apps page, please keep in mind that there are some spoilers for Ni no Kuni ahead!]
Drippy, being the Lord High Lord of the Fairies, is not one to be taken lightly... Except for the fact that before he ever went on any sort of journey with a wizard, he was an excellent stand-up comedian, bringing joy and laughter to all of the fairies in Fairyland, the place he was born.
Upon meeting Oliver, the main protagonist of Ni no Kuni, Drippy brings a sort of undeniable charm to the table, though he's (not so) subtly brash while doing so. Almost immediately after being freed from his prison inside a doll by Oliver's tears, the fairy calls Oliver a name (Crybaby Bunting) and steals his food, then, while explaining exactly what happened to warrant himself being trapped in the form of a doll for years and how he needs to go back to his own world, Drippy insists on laying down the line that he is, without any doubt, the Lord High Lord of the Fairies. This title is never formally explained in the game, so it's safe to assume that Drippy thinks highly of himself, enough to give himself such a high title and mention it to a decently high amount of the NPCs in the game.
Throughout Oliver and Drippy's adventure, the fairy often makes jokes and smart comments to knock sense into his companion and/or tell him what he needs to do to progress the adventure, and when the player is idle, Drippy often trips over his own feet while amusingly dancing about, proving that he simply cannot stay still for long.
What makes Drippy special, though, from all of the other fairies? For one thing, his lantern is unique: no other fairy has one, and Drippy had gotten his when he was but a wee child, afraid of the dark, constantly crying in paralyzing fear from what the darkness of the night may bring. An unnamed wizard gave him the lantern upon their meeting, immediately swaying all of Drippy's fears away from that point until the end of time. (Or the end of Drippy's life, though the game never states his age or how long fairies live!) Drippy is also special because he is undoubtedly loyal. He never leave's Oliver's side even when things turn for the worse, and even though his comments may come off a bit too harsh at times, it is obvious that he adores the boy and would do just about anything to make sure he succeeds in his mission, if nothing but to honor Oliver's mother's wish.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: I think I'm good!
